On December 2, 2013 (Monday), The Senate of Hacettepe University had a meeting on the activities of Application and Research Centers. The activities of these centers from September 20, 2012 to December 1, 2013 were evaluated. In this meeting HAMER was represented by the HAMER’s Director Prof. Hakan Altıntaş, M.D, EMDM.
On November 27, 2013, a meeting was held with 18 university personnel who were voluntered for the establishment of HAMER’s Search and Rescue team.
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) organised a course entitled MISP-Minimum Initial Service Package in Ankara / Turkey (25-29 November 2013). On be half of HAMER, Research Assistant Baki Can Metin, M.D. (HU Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health) and Research Assistant Bilge Kalanlar, Ph.D. (HU Faculty of Nursing, Department of Public Health) participated in this train-the-trainer course and they were certified.
Prof. Katsuhiko Sugimoto, M.D. and two of his colleagues from the Kokushikan University Research Institute of Disaster Management and Emergency System (Tokyo, Japan) visited HAMER on September 16th, 2013 (Monday). The visitors were informed about HAMER and they also visited the emergency department of Hacettepe University Adult Hospital. Both sides discussed the possibilities of future collaboration (Photo).
HAMER’s Advisory Committee had its annual meeting on May 24th (Friday), 2013. The agenda of the meeting was “the role and effectiveness of external members of HAMER’s Advisory Committee”.

Japanese intern doctors Mr. Keita Kajikawa, Mr. Takahiro Kitagawa and Mr. Masafumi Ueno from Keio University School of Medicine (members of International Medical Association-IMA) visited HAMER on July 19th, 2012. They were informed about disaster medicine training and major actors of disaster response in Turkey.

The Senate of Hacettepe University had a session for Van Earthquake on 23 November 2011, Wednesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Senate Hall in Sıhhiye Campus. In this session, Prof. Zafer Öztek, M.D., director of HAMER, informed the members of the Senate about HAMER and Associate Prof. Hakan Altıntaş, M.D., vice director of HAMER presented the observations and studies conducted by HAMER team which visited Erciş district of Van from 26 to 28 October 2011. |

After the earthquake which occured in Van province on October 23rd, 2011 (Sunday), HAMER’s Executive Committee member Assistant Prof. Filiz Demiröz provided psychosocial rehabilitation services from October 24th to 30th, 2011. She went to the area as a member of a team of “Psychosocial Services Unity in Disasters”. |
After the earthquake which occured in Van province on October 23rd, 2011 (Sunday), a HAMER team provided consultancy services regarding public health issues from October 26th to 28th, 2011, in Erciş district. |
